Squishies

These two characters are part of a larger concept for interstitials...shorts...mini bits, if you will.

I wanted to develop a gender-neutral form, a creature, that can be all kinds of things, but take on very strong emotions. I wanted a being that could be adorable in one moment, and pulverized in the next - while maintaining maximum character quality throughout.

I went through many renditions, and finally, I arrived at these lil' buggers. I have no idea when I'll ever get 'em animated, but hey, it was a fun exercise.

Flip Flop

Another assignment:

This one was an odd one - I wanted to somehow combine the gestural qualities of some anime character designs with something (kinda) flash-friendly. I'm not always sold on the idea of an outline when it comes to flash, as that can complicate the animation, but in this case, I felt it was helpful. Anyhow, her name's Flip-Flop. She's a cheerleader. Enjoy.

Watercolor Thumbnails

In an effort to keep my color and landscape chops semi-tuned, I often do watercolor thumbnails of whatever comes to mind. I try to keep to only landscapes, for no reason other than preference. The penny was obviously included to show scale. Enjoy.
